Alessandro Ballan He began his cycling career at the age of 8 among the very young of UC Giorgione. In 1998 he passes amateur, in six seasons, four from Under-23 and two from elite, he collects 13 victories. He became a professional at the beginning of 2004 with Giuseppe Saronni's Lampre.
