A stimulating week on your bike, in continuous movement to discover the excellences of the Friuli Venezia-Giulia region. A long itinerary that starts from the navigable lagoon of the city of the sun of Grado to finally reach the capital of Trieste, passing between the Natural Reserves of Isola della Cona, Caneo and Valle Cavanata, enclosed between the impetuous river Isonzo and the sea, climbing to the Collio Goriziano, famous land of white wine vineyards planted on the rolling hills, dominated by the evocative structure of the Castello di Spessa, excellence of the territory. Passing through the medieval villages of Gradisca, whose walls, designed by Leonardo da Vinci, are still partially visible and the monuments of the Roman era to discover the ancient Aquileia, we will ride through the walls of the fortress city of Palmanova, Venetian outpost of 1593, from its unique structure. Finally, we will arrive in the multicultural city of Trieste by sea, sailing under the high rocky coastline, passing in front of the castles of Duino and Miramare, perched on the characteristic cliffs, to admire, finally, the beauty of Piazza Unità d'Italia and all the most important attractions that make the city so characteristic and famous.
Day 1: Grado
Arrival in Grado in the late afternoon, hotel accommodation and brief briefing with the guide, which presents the week. After dinner, walk in the historic streets of Grado. Overnight in Grado.
Day 2: Grado / Monfalcone - about 60 km: all on a cycle path with asphalted terrain or beaten dirt road, with no particular differences in level
Pedaling from Grado and arriving in Monfalcone. Departure to the 9 along the path of the Isonzo, reaching the Natural Reserves surrounding the Grado Lagoon, in particular deserves to be visited the center of the island of Cona, with nature trails and excursions. Continue towards the sea, with the possibility of a refreshing bath. Arrival at the hotel in Monfalcone in the late afternoon. Dinner and overnight in Monfalcone.
Day 3: Monfalcone / Cormons - about 25 km: first part of the asphalted bike path, then you start to climb the Karst along dirt paths; average slope 1%; difference in height 220 m.
Departure from Monfalcone, around Fogliano and arrival at Cormons. In this day we go to visit the Karst area, with its striking colors, to stop and visit the impressive Shrine of Redipuglia, historical site of the First World War. Possibility of lunch in a farmhouse typical of the karst culture. In the afternoon we continue towards Gradisca d'Isonzo, one of the most beautiful villages in Italy, to get to Cormons and its vineyards. Dinner and overnight at the hotel in Cormons.
Day 4: Cormons / Palmanova - about 40 km: asphalt road to Spessa, with a short ascent of 400 meters to reach the Castle. From there you take the bike path in a dirt road that leads to Palmanova, the last 10 km are on a secondary asphalt road.
Departure from Cormons, around the Castle of Spessa and arrival in Palmanova. The bic are set around 9 o'clock and, after a short stroll through the center of Cormons, climb up towards the suggestive Castello di Spessa, with its fine wines and its history of medieval counts and lords. In the afternoon we arrive in Palmanova, with the characteristic starry plant. Dinner and overnight in hotel in Palmanova.
Day 5: Palmanova / Grado - 60 km all on the Alpe Adria cycle path, except for the historic tour of the city of Aquileia, the road is in very light descent.
Departure from Palmanova, visit to Aquileia and arrival in Grado. Following the Alpe Adria cycle path you reach the ancient Roman city of Aquileia, where the remains of the Empire are still visible. Lunch and possibility of boat tour of the lagoon in the afternoon. Continue along the cycle path until you reach Grado, where overnight stay is planned.
Day 6: Grado /Trieste/Grado - about 30 km: around the asphalt town cycle path, but very busy. Then you go up the Cottur cycle path with an average gradient of 2% and a difference in height.
Moving with the Delfino Verde boat to the beautiful Trieste (starting at 940). Here, after visiting places of interest such as the Molo Audace, Piazza Unità and the Jewish quarter, you can enter the Cottur cycle path, until you reach the neighboring Slovenia. Return to the boat for the last night in Grado. Dinner and overnight.
Day 7: greetings and departure towards the various destinations.
