Only in the breath of the sea, in the contact with the nature of the Norwegian fjords, the famous painter Edvard Munch succeeded in appeasing his obsessions. A trip to the North Cape is not just a cycling adventure, it is above all a deep inner experience, which reassures the spirit and brings us closer to the important values of life.
Let's start from Tromso ... "the capital of the Arctic", a lively and entertaining city, rich in history, culture, as well as the university city to the north of the world and surrounded by mountains, fjords and islands. more ancient prehistoric traces of Norway thanks to its rock carvings that in 1985 were included in the list of UNESCO World Heritage sites, the journey continues to reserve, behind every curve, scenarios of incomparable beauty that will remain indelible in our hearts. the sun lights up the road to Cape North late into the night, we arrive at Honningsvag, a quaint fishing village, after crossing the Lapland plateau and reaching the island of Mageroya through an underwater tunnel, then the legendary cliff that flows into the water. impetuous of the glacial sea, to catch all the colors and the shades of the midnight sun.It is time to put the bicycles in the van, even if the thought is still a fantastic landscapes crossed and the legendary cliff conquered. Transfer to Alta, from where you depart by plane to return to Italy.
Itinerary and program
Day 1: flight to Tromso
Flight to to reach Tromso, the university city by early afternoon, is the seventh Norwegian city, considered the capital of Lapland. Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2: Tromso - Orderdalen - km 90
Once we have prepared our bikes, we head north, we are in the Arctic, in a few days we will have reached the roof of Europe. From Lyngseidet we take the ferry that quickly takes us to Olderdalen, an agricultural village on the Kafjorden. Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3: Olderdalen - Burfjord - km 118
We continue to pedal towards the north, the view of the sea of the fjords accompanies us and the mountains that surround it still bear the signs of winter, with tongues of ice that shine and are reflected in our eyes. We arrive in Burfjord, at a typical seaside cottage. Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 4: Burfjord - Alta - 92 km
Continuing along the E6 we skirt the sea, going up and down along the fjord. We fully enjoy the privilege of pedaling immersed in these breathtaking landscapes, where the force of nature dominates and where cars are almost non-existent. We finally arrive in Alta, a town in the county of Finnmark. Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 5: Alta - Olderfjord - km 108
Departing from Alta, after a few kilometers we leave the sea to climb a very characteristic plateau of Lapland, we remain at an altitude almost the whole stage, between 200 and 400 meters, to go back down to the sea, we reach Olderfjord where we will spend the night. This will be the longest night, which will allow us to recover our strength, the one that finally separates us from the goal for which we are pedaling. Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 6: Olderfjord - Honningsvag - North Cape - km 100 + 34
We skirt this wonderful fjord, the reindeer accompany us along this last stage, splendid landscapes. We finally arrive at the famous tunnel carved into the rock under the sea that takes us to the Island of Magheroya. The landscape has changed completely, no plants, only grass and moss. Once on the island we go to the hotel to rest and get ready for the last and happy effort, we head towards the "Nordkapp" Rock, along a road that begins to go up and down along the cliffs overlooking the sea, these last 30 kilometers we will never forget them, they will forever remain indelibly in our mind, landscapes, colors, scents that only this unique place can make us live. Day 7: Honningsvag - transfer to Alta
We dedicate the morning to the visit of the village of Honningsvag and if we still want we will make a nice excursion by bike in the surrounding area. After lunch we put our bikes in the van. Transfer organized for Alta, which we will reach in the evening. Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 8: Alta - flights to Italy
Greetings to all participants. Transfer to the airport to fly to Oslo and then connecting flights to home.

Mode of travel and type of trip: the daily routes of the stage range from 90 km to 130 km, they will be faced respecting some simple but important rules: gaits that are never exaggerated and proportionate to the route, weather conditions and distance. The stages have been studied taking into account the distances to be covered and the stops to be made, to eat, visit and why not take photos. This great trip is feasible even for those who train little (at least 2 times a week), provided that during the trip they will respect the gaits and stops recommended by the organizers.
Bike transport: by plane inside a bag or other packaging that can protect the bike
Clothing and equipment: practical clothing, possibly modular, which makes it possible to grow heavy / lighten quickly depending on the weather. Rain jacket indispensable. Bike coupons and new tires. Kit of keys of your own vehicle, front and rear lights due to the various tunnels that we will cross escorted by the van.
Climate: even if you climb the "roof of Europe", most of the journey will be characterized by mild temperatures (+ 12 ° / + 18 °). Only during the stages on the Lappone plateau will it be colder, but always at acceptable levels (+ 5 ° / + 8 °). For rain it depends on the season, this is the best time anyway, with a little luck it will be sunny days to prevail.
